Water Supply: Soon, 24×7 Water Supply For Rose Garden Area Residents | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: The civic body officials have kicked off the construction work of second water storage tank in Rose Garden from where residents of nearby areas will get 24×7 water supply.
Under the Smart City project, a few selected areas will 24×7 water supply. As per the MC officials, this is also being considered as a pilot project before the civic body goes ahead with the World Bank 24×7 water supply project.
The civic officials claimed to be hopeful that the project will see completion in the next two to three months.
As the digging work for establishing a storage tank in Rose Garden has been kicked off, residents who frequent the garden are worried that the green space there.
However, the MC officials claimed it will not create much difference as they will develop green space over the storage tank once the construction work is completed. Meanwhile, digging of road in Sarabha Nagar was going on and officials claimed that connecting lines are being laid for water supply to nearby areas. This project is expected to cover at least 5,000 households in areas including Ghumar Mandi, Sarabha Nagar, Maharaj Nagar, Maya Nagar, and Gurdev Nagar. Since the canal-based water supply project is yet to take off, the officials will provide round-the-clock water supply with the help of tube wells.
It took almost four years for the officials to start laying the water supply lines since the first inauguration of the project in 2018. It was inaugurated for the second time in 2022.
MC superintending engineer Ravinder Garg said, “This is an important project for the city as the residents will get water supply round the clock and we will be able to reduce the dependence upon the tube wells. Notably, there are at least 22 tube wells in these areas but once the project will be completed, we will use nine tube wells only.”
He said they will reserve water in storage tanks and then supply it to the households in the area. He claimed that the firm concerned has assured that the work will be completed in next two-three months. “Hopefully, after the parliamentary elections we’ll be able to start supplying water in the colonies 24×7,” he added.
