Starkville Sportsplex hosts first ever home and garden show

There are several small businesses in the WCBI viewing area that most people do not know about. Business owners are hoping the home and garden show would help gain some foot traffic in their doors.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Several tables and vendors were lined up ready to teach shoppers about what they had to offer. Audrey Prisk is a Sales Associate at Twigs. She said this event was a great way to educate the community more about small businesses in the Golden Triangle.

“It is important to stay interested in the town’s local businesses,” said Prisk. “The owners of this store went to Mississippi State and got their degrees, so supporting local businesses is really important in our community.”

John Ingram works at Window World. He said the home garden show allowed him to show that the event was more than just gardens.

UPDATE: Macon-Bibb P&Z defers decision on Society Garden conditional use revision – 41NBC News

Society Garden, a popular entertainment venue on Ingleside Avenue, is facing scrutiny for apparently deviating from its original conditional use approval granted in 2017.

UPDATE (1/22/24): The Macon-Bibb County Planning and Zoning Commission heard from the owners of the Society Garden Monday about the renewal of its conditional use application.

The Executive Director of the Planning and Zoning Commission, Jeff Ruggiere, says the commission is working with the Society Garden to find solutions for parking and reducing noise from live performances.

“We’re trying to find a way to compromise so the Society Garden can still operate at the high level that they’re operating, provide the services that they provide to this community, and still protect the neighborhood from those negative impacts of traffic and noise and lighting and things like that,” Ruggiere said.

The commission voted to defer the agenda item to next month’s meeting. That meeting

In a world where technology is constantly pushing the boundaries, companies are now exploring the depths of the ocean, not for treasure, but for better heat dissipation for data centers. However on experimental project has taken this concept and applied it to a garden pond, demonstrating the potential of using water to cool high-end PC components.

The watercooled PC project involved the use of an RTX 4090 and an Intel I9 13900k, components that generate over 800 watts of heat. The challenge was to find a way to dissipate this heat effectively, and the solution was found in the most unlikely of places – a garden pond.
