National chain Tractor Supply opening Kalispell location


National retail chain Tractor Supply Co. plans to open a store here in the former Kmart building.

The company, which calls itself the largest lifestyle retailer in the U.S. and was founded in 1938, sells products for home improvement, agriculture, lawn and garden, livestock, equine and pet care.

The new store is set to hold its grand opening celebration from Sept. 21 to Sept. 24, according to a release from the company. A sign on the building shows the store is hiring for positions.

“Homeowners, livestock and pet owners, gardeners, hobby farmers, ranchers, tradesmen

and others rely on Tractor Supply for a wide assortment of products,” the company said in a release. “We’re excited to call Kalispell home and serve the community with the essentials you need to live life on your own terms.”

Tractor Supply expects to provide 15 jobs, with at least half of those as full-time positions,

Tractor Supply store coming to Turner

A new Tractor Supply store is planned at 1600 Auburn Road in Turner, once permits are secured with state and local officials. The matter has yet to go before the Planning Board.

The description provided by developer Primax Properties of Charlotte, North Carolina, indicates the store would be 21,930 square feet, with a 19,870 square foot fenced, outdoor display area with a 3,672 square foot garden center, which is slightly bigger than the typical Tractor Supply Store, according to its latest annual report.

An official with Primax Properties said they would like to be open by the end of the year. A public comment period is open during the application process and anyone can request a public hearing in writing. Requests must be made within 20 days after the application has been accepted by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.

Rural-retail chain Tractor Supply holding grand opening in Pohatcong Plaza, near Phillipsburg, on July 9 | Regional

Tractor Supply Co.which operates more than 2,000 stores in 49 states, is having a grand opening near Phillipsburg on July 9.

The rural retailer is opening in the Pohatcong Plaza at 1280 Route 22 East.

Tractor Supply was founded as a mail-order business in 1938 and opened its first retail store in Minot, North Dakota, in 1939. According to the company website, it employs more than 46,000 people and had 2021 sales of $12.7 billion.

The stores sell boots, work clothing, supplies for pets and horses, riding mowers, lawn and garden supplies and other goods.

“At Tractor Supply, we understand the value of providing essential needs like pet food, animal feed and home supplies to our customers,” Richard Robinson, manager of the new store, said in a statement.

Tractor Supply offers Independence Day discounts to military

In a regular display of military support by the ubiquitous rural retailer, Tractor Supply Co. is honoring Independence Day by offering 15 percent discounts for in-store purchases made on July 4 by all active and former service members and their dependents. Individuals can show a valid military ID or other proof of service to take advantage of the discount during the holiday, the company said.
