In the Garden: Harvesting tips from fellow gardeners

Recently, I was reflecting on how much of the gardening knowledge I have gained over the years has come from other gardeners. With that in mind, I asked my Facebook followers to share their tips for success. I was rewarded with an abundance of great ideas that I’d like to pass along.

I’m a list-maker but Marjorie in Maine has a great method for whittling away at projects: “I write a to-do list for the garden and date it. Every day, I reread the list, go to the garden and do at least two things from the list to scratch off, even though I may do many other things.”

Should I buy this FTSE 250 home improvement stock?

FTSE 250 incumbent Grafton Group (LSE:GFTU) has seen its shares fall considerably in recent months. Could now be a good time to add the shares to my holdings for a longer-term recovery as well as increased returns? Let’s take a closer look.

Home improvement business

As a quick reminder, Grafton is the largest home improvement retailer in Ireland with over 35 locations. It also has an online store but the business has a diversified offering with distribution and manufacturing arms that provide products in the UK too.

So what’s happening with Grafton shares currently? Well, as I write, they’re trading for 813p. At this time last year, the stock was trading for 1.237p, which is a 34% drop over a 12-month period.

North Augusta family raising funds for memorial garden after fatal fire | Community

The saying goes, “Home is where the heart is.” For Marcello Lambert and his family, home is a place to remember and honor family.

After a fatal fire destroyed the family’s North Augusta home on Nov. 6, 2021, Dorian and La’Trice Lambert’s legacy is time to be remembered with a new memorial garden at the location of their home.

Dorian was Lambert’s college sweetheart. She spent her time volunteering at church and at the SPCA and getting involved with the family. Lambert’s daughter La’Trice, at 8 years old, loved reading and wearing colorful clothes.


Fox Creek adds multipurpose turf field to athletic facilities

The memorial garden plans to create small plaques with keepsakes for family members to pay their respects. Using the brick foundation, adding Japanese gardening influences and more, the family hopes to hold a service on Nov. 5, 2022, almost one year later.

Tori and Casey Ostwinch’s farm started as a garden.

Over the years, their garden grew until the pair decided to try farming full time.

For a year, the Ostwinches worked on a farm in South Carolina to see if they could do it themselves. In 2018, they decided to try.

The couple bought 5 acres in the St. Stephens area. They moved into the small brick house and built their farm, Honey Tree Farm, around it.

Now, rows of crops fill every foot around the house. Tomatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, kale, radishes, lettuce and beets bloom from the soil. The crops take up about 1.5 acres, Casey said.
