With inflation reaching a 40-year high, many families across the country might be looking to Black Friday deals to save a few dollars. That said, a recent report from WalletHub.compared 4,000 deals from 16 of the biggest retailers in the country across nine categories to determine what stores have the best deals this year.
The nine product categories included apparel and accessories, electronics, appliances, jewelry, toys, computers and phones, packed goods, furniture and all other good categories.
An overall review was measured for all nine categories and then a top five category for each individual nine. This report will highlight the top ten overall and the top three in each category to help readers with a possible starting base to achieve maximum saving this holiday season.
Overall, JCPenny came in as No. 1 across all nine categories, followed by Belk at No. 2, then Macy’s, Office Depot and OfficeMax, Kohl’s, Lenovo, Target, Big Lots, Academy Sports and Outdoors and The Home Depot, rounding out the top ten, in order.
The top three stores with the best deals for apparel and accessories included Belk, JCPenny and Walmart, listed in order, according to the report, adding that Belk, JCPenny and Big lots, were the leading three stores for appliance discounts.
The best deals on toys for the kiddos included Belk at No. 1, then Kohl’s and Amazon, in order. If shopping for a new phone or computer JCPenny came in at No. 1, followed by Office Depot and OfficeMax and Lenovo, rounding out the top three and for consumer electronics, Belk took the lead then Macy’s and JCPenny, in order.
For furniture, Office Depot and Office Max lead the best deals at No. 1, then Macy’s and Amazon, rounding out the top three for jewelry this holiday season in the report included Kohls, JCPenny’s and Macy’s, in order with discounted prices for Black Friday, the report said.
WalletHub calculated the average discount that each of the leading 16 retailers highlighted in the report plans to offer through ad scans for Black Friday. The average discount was weighted based on the pre-discounted price of the item in order to give more credit to the retailers discounting higher-ticket items. The report then organized the deals of the nine product categories calculating the category averages.
The 16 stores used to determine the top places to shop for Black Friday in 2022 were Academy Sports and Outdoors. Amazon, Belk, Best Buy, Big Lots, BJ’s, Costco, JCPenney, Kohl’s, Lenovo, Macy’s, Newegg, Office Depot and OfficeMax, Target, The Home Depot and Walmart.
