Local women to open new home decor store in West Acres – InForum

FARGO — The

West Acres Shopping Center

will be adding a new store in July.

Amodco,

currently an online home decor and furnishings store, is planning to open in the mall’s JCPenney wing at the beginning of the month, co-owner Ashley Halvorson told The Forum.

According to Halvorson, Amodco features a selection of “personally curated” home decor items. The selection primarily focuses on wall art, vases, shelving, hutches, small tables and smaller accessories. They’ll also carry some furniture items and a “large array” of greenery like house plants and stems for vases.

As the name suggests, Amodco sports a modern style, Halvorson explained. She co-owns the store with Stefani Nelson, who has an interior design background and helps curate the store’s collection. “We want it to be something that is timeless,” Halvorson said of the store. “We want it to be modern and classic.”

Halvorson also described the store as “neutral,” meaning Amodco’s stock has a variety of applications aimed at decorating the whole home. “The beautiful thing about that is you can kind of mix and match these pieces throughout your home,” she commented. “Not only are you getting something that is high quality, modern and nice, but it’s something that you can use and reuse.”

Halvorson added that Amodco carries “a little bit of something for everybody,” with an eye for “everyday use rather than that one special piece that is for a one-time use.”

Halvorson and Nelson had always intended to open a brick-and-mortar store to complement their recently-launched website. Both were raised in Fargo, which is why they wanted to have a physical presence in the community.

“We’re just excited to be in the Fargo-Moorhead community,” Halvorson concluded. “We love it here and that’s why it’s so important to have a brick-and-mortar here, to get to know our customers. We’re just excited to bring to the Fargo-Moorhead area this type of store.”

Amodco will be located on the mall’s west side, in between the Minn Dak Market and Lids. The formal opening date will be announced at
